Trump supporters stand by him

Tomorrow will mark the one-year anniversary of President Donald Trump’s inauguration. From rallies to protests, some may wonder: Have people’s views on Trump changed after a year of his presidency?
Trump have not changed over the course of the year, but there are some things they do not completely agree with.According to a Gallup poll, Trump’s average approval rating is currently at 38 percent. But despite these historically low numbers, the majority of Republicans still support him. His approval rating from Republicans has not dropped below 77 percent over the last year.

“My views on Donald Trump remain the same,” said senior Gianna Ricerca, a Republican. “He did what was expected.”

Senior Trump supporters Joey Gabriel and Chris Culhane also agree that their opinions toward
“There is a better way than Twitter to convey his attitude toward certain subjects,” said Culhane. “However, I still am behind the policies that he suggests.”

Gabriel added: “The thing that I disagree with most was the withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement.”

These flaws do not seem to be enough to take away from these students’ appreciation of the promises that Trump has fulfilled and the policies that he has implemented.

For example, Gabriel still supports Trump just like he did a year ago, and thinks that “the media should stop belittling and let the man do his job.”

Many Trump supporters are also very fond of the president’s positive effect on the economy. According to CNN, the Dow Jones has gone up by nearly 6,000 points since Trump’s inauguration.

“I truly believe that he is trying to make the American dream more accessible to so many people who were stuck in poverty before,” said Culhane.

Added Gabriel: “The economy is roaring, the Dow Jones has hit an all- time high of 25,000. He has also had many policy accomplishments.”

Overall, those who voted for Trump during the 2016 election find that he is doing exactly what he said he would do during his campaign.

“He has continued to follow his ideals and the ideals that got him elected president,” Culhane said. “I am very excited about the future.”
