Summer (Netflix) Lovin’

WHS students have some big plans for the summer, and one of the most common plans involves lying down on the couch with their laptops while watching lots of House of Cards, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad and more on Netflix.

With many new shows and seasons coming to Netflix this month, such as Arrow, Intersection, Kardashian: The Man Who Saved OJ Simpson, Mutant Busters, The 100 and Vice, students are excited to spend their free time this summer binge-watching their favorite shows.
Senior Brady Siegel noted that he is looking forward to watching the NBC series The West Wing over the summer. “Considering I was binge-watching during the school year, there is a 100-percent chance I will pull some all-nighters watching Netflix over the summer,” Siegel said.
According to Netflix, 61 percent of people have admitted to binge-watching on a daily basis.
Over the summer, when students are relieved of many stresses and responsibilities that they typically have during the school year, they commit a lot of their time to watching Netflix. Many students look forward to some rest and relaxation, as they have fewer things to worry about.
“Keeping up with How I Met Your Mother is definitely one of my big plans this summer,” said junior Gianna Ricerca. “If I have nothing to do one day, watching Netflix is going to be my whole agenda for the day, something I would never be able to do during the stressful school year.”
The summer moves by fast, so students want to be able to finish as much Netflix as possible before they have to go back to school. Ricerca noted how summer provides the perfect platform for finishing her favorite television shows as quickly as possible.
Senior Aditya Singh is right there with her. “[I] watched Strangers Things in a night and half a day, watched Luke Cage and Iron Fist within three days,” Singh said. “I don’t know what I’m going to watch this summer but I will be watching a ton.”
