Hitting the stage on Feb. 23, Olivia Rodrigo’s long awaited Guts World Tour has begun. The hour-and-a-half-long show includes songs from Rodrigo’s two studio albums, Sour and Guts, encompassing all of her work and touching on her most popular tracks.
Although she played some of her most famous songs featured on her first album Sour, like “Drivers License” and “Deja Vu,” songs from her newest album, like “Get Him Back!,” “Bad Idea Right?” and “All American B—-” have propelled the show to new levels of excitement by displaying new colors, visuals and dances that welcome fans into an era of teenage angst and rock.
Videos and pictures of the opening night have been circulating on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, building hype for attendees as they wait for Rodrigo to hit their area. One of the ways she captivates her audience in this show is by emitting a loud scream in her song “All American B—-”. She says, “I want everyone in here to think about something, or someone that really pisses you off, and scream your heart out,” continuing the teenage angst theme of the album into the real-life event for her fans to act out.
Senior Nicole Braterman who will be attending the tour April 9 at the Prudential Center in Newark said, “I’m very excited to hear the new album, and I heard rumors that she may play a new song. I loved her outfits and dances that I’ve seen so far on TikTok.”
Many fans have commented on TikTok posts of the tour with positive feedback on this new era of Rodrigo’s career. “She’s single-handedly bringing rock back and I’m so here for it” said @DoYouVearVigs. @emmalinah_ said, “I loved the Sour album, but this album really feels like her and it seems like she’s exactly where she wants to be,” while @ok3rika commented, “I remember when she used to be so shy and now she’s so energetic,” commenting on her evident improvement of her stage presence and performance.
