Phew! Spring break is officially on the horizon. That means no school, sleeping in and warm weather (hopefully). You have been looking forward to your trip to the coast of Italy all year and… but, oh no, a weather emergency in Europe canceled your flight and your entire trip which means no more pasta and cheese for you.
Looks like you are stuck in Westfield for the week, but not to fear there are plenty of things to make the most of your time and avoid FOMO. Here are a few fun ideas that will help you make the most out of your spring break.
Doom scroll on TikTok: Despite the fact that the government is trying to ban the app, there is nothing better than crawling in your bed and scrolling on TikTok for hours. Once you start, it’s impossible to stop. You will certainly lose track of time and you won’t even think about looking at all your friends Instagram’s posts from the Dominican. Last week I spent so long on TikTok that one minute it was light out and the next it was dark and my Chipotle bowl that I Doordashed earlier was freezing cold. I still can’t figure out when it even got there.
Go to a WHS sporting event: While the only other people left in town may be the lacrosse or baseball/softball team, not to worry. They have games practically every day, so attending one may be a perfect way to keep you busy for a few hours. If you are lucky, the game may even go into overtime or extra innings and poof, an extra 30 minutes of activities.
Start studying for finals: Only two more months until finals begin and it is never too early to get a head start on studying. Of course you need to maintain your 4.0 GPA and what better way to do that than to make an intensive study schedule for all five of your academic classes plus Financial Literacy. You know what they say, “The early bird gets the worm.” That worm my friend: straight A’s.
Deep Clean: Your room, your closet, the junk drawer that has not been touched since last July; any of these options are possible places that may need a deep cleaning this spring. As Seasonal Affective Disorder has its foot out the door, what better way to kill your time than spending hours cleaning out the physical clutter that has been taking up valuable mental space.
Binge-Watch: Now here is a way to really kill some time. Binge-watching television may be the most viable option to make the hours in the day feel like minutes. Love Island UK and Love Island AUS have been my personal favorites, but never, and I mean never, attempt to watch Love Island US be- cause as many of you may know, it is just not quite the same.
While all of these fun activities do not compete with a trip to the beaches of Italy, you can still make sure to get your fake tan that will make you look exactly like you friends’ tans, albeit slightly more orange, in time to return to school.
