Senior Devon McLane has broken three WHS all-time career offensive records in boys lacrosse with 135 goals, 171 assists and 306 points.
“Breaking records has been fun and it’s definitely something I’ve enjoyed, but I’ve enjoyed nothing more than winning with my team,” said McLane, who plays the attack position.
McLane credits most of his success to his team, saying that he has “played with a lot of great players” who finish and make great passes. He also attributes his accomplishments to the great coaching he has had throughout his lacrosse career.
In addition to breaking records, McLane has led the varsity team to an 11-9 record this season as team captain.
“We have a rich tradition in boys lacrosse here with a lot of outstanding former players, and the fact that he broke those records is a testament to the quality and the skill that he has,” said Supervisor of Athletics Sandy Mamary.
McLane’s athletic career will not stop at WHS, as he will attend Brown University in the fall to continue his lacrosse career.
McLane’s advice to any future lacrosse players: “I would say continuously hit the wall and hone your skills. Keep working hard and enjoy.”
