FRIENDS
Friends fans have been waiting for this moment for over 15 years. After being off the air since 2004, the hit TV show from the 90s and early 2000s will finally reunite for one more episode.
The reunion, first announced in November, was officially confirmed by HBO on Feb. 21. The entire original cast will return for the one-episode installment, which is scheduled to air in May.
The reunion episode will air on the newly created streaming service, HBO Max, along with the 236 original episodes of the series. HBO Max will also be the new venue for fans to rewatch the show after it was recently taken off another popular streaming service, Netflix, last year.
Friends has seen a resurgence in popularity in recent years due to Netflix, creating many new fans of the show who were not even alive when a majority of the series first aired. With a multitude of new viewers in addition to the original fans of the show while it was on air, there are a lot of people excited for the reunion. For example, Jennifer Aniston, who played Rachel Green in the original series, received 10.3 millions likes on her Instagram photo announcing the reunion.
WHS senior Elie Cestero is one of the new-generation fans. “I’m super excited about the reunion because it’s one of my favorite shows and it always makes me laugh,” said Cestero. “I think it’s just going to be so enjoyable to watch and it’s something fans have been asking for, for years.”
