WHS students vote
Seniors’ thoughts on opportunity for political involvement
Laura Meyer
“My parents talk a lot about politics and civic engagement, so it’s really exciting to get to start sharing my opinions and make a difference with my vote. I’m one of the interns on Shelley Brindle’s campaign; something that really drew me to her platform was her master plan and overall vision for downtown Westfield. I really think that Westfield needs the change that she is willing to bring.”

“I think a lot of us are familiar with the frustration of not having a voice, especially after the recent presidential election, so being able to vote now is very refreshing. It gives me a new sense of freedom and maturity. I think the town needs a change, and so I plan to vote for Shelley Brindle. She has done a lot of research on other towns to improve problems in ours. That dedication and desire for change is crucial.”

“Having the ability to vote this year is empowering. I think that it’s important to vote because this is the town we live in and we should be able to get our opinions out there so that our town reflects our opinions.
“This year I plan to vote for Shelley Brindle. It’s definitely time to have a woman in office.”

“I’m not registered to vote. I know you have to go to the DMV, but I don’t really want to do that. I would definitely register if it was for a presidential election, but since I’m going to college the mayoral election won’t really affect me anyway.”
