Gym-class heroes
First, start your day with an alarm at 5 a.m. to get a quick mile in and a trip to Starbucks to bring your teacher a cup of coffee for the extra points. Make sure you run a few laps for a good warm-up before the mandatory dynamic warm-up.
You must show up five days a week—no days off. Be ready in your running sneakers and workout clothes so you don’t waste valuable warm-up time in the locker room. It is imperative to give it your all during every unit. During basketball, work on your half-court shots. In volleyball, make sure you’re playing every position at once. And in flag football, toss yourself a touchdown.
There is no time to waste and you have to be prepared and focused for the full period. “It’s not just 43 minutes out of the whole day; it’s a lifestyle,” said an anonymous former PE Warrior.
As students approach their junior and senior years, they begin to think about the effect of PE Warrior on the college process. Colleges are not going to accept someone who doesn’t demonstrate their full potential in gym class. Being PE Warrior is like being valedictorian; it increases your chances of acceptance by a landslide.
Think about every student you see in that “Gym Class Hero” T-shirt. Think about how many times a day you pass the pictures of former PE Warriors. Don’t you wish it was you? This isn’t just an honor you’re given at WHS; this is a lifetime achievement that will guarantee your future success.
