Nominations for the 64th annual GRAMMY awards
This year, the 63rd annual GRAMMYs are back and better than ever. Several artists nominated will be making their first ever appearance at the GRAMMYs, while others will be coming back after multi-year-long hiatuses to claim another award. Below are the nominations for the Big Four categories followed by various other genre awards. The 2022
GRAMMY Awards will air on CBS on Jan. 31, and stream live and on demand on Paramount from 8–11:30 p.m.

Record of the Year recognizes not only the achievement of the artist, but also credits songwriters, producers and mixers who worked on the single. Tony Bennett, who has won 20 GRAMMY awards, and ABBA, who has recently released records for the first time in almost 40 years, are currently in the race. Several new artists also gained meteoritic rises this year and are competing for the award. Nominees in this category include Jon Batiste, Silk Sonic and Olivia Rodrigo, all looking to win their first ever GRAMMY.

Nominees for Album of the Year include Lil Nas X with his first studio album, MONTERO. Lil Nas X stated he wanted to address his more creative side in regards to music with this soul-snatching work of art. It gained popularity after its release in September and earned a nomination spot for Album of the Year. On the other hand, Olivia Rodrigo, who wrote her grammy-nominee album when she was 17, is also competing with her first studio album, Sour, released in May. Additionally, a hit single off of the album, “drivers license,” is the most streamed song on Spotify for all of 2021 (globally).

“Peaches” by Justin Beiber is on the same level of a music earworm that you can’t get out of your head. Beiber, despite his many pop-hits, has won just two GRAMMY awards during his 11-year career in the music industry. The 2022 Grammy is his opportunity for a third. His song features Daniel Caesar, who has one GRAMMY for Best R&B Performance in 2019, and Giveon, who is nominated for Best R&B Album this year.

Nominees for Best New Artist include FINNEAS, the brother of seven time GRAMMY winner Billie Eilish, and Olivia Rodrigo, who landed a spot in all Big Four categories this year. Other noteworthy new artists include Glass Animals, whose hit song “Heat Waves” now has almost one billion streams on Spotify and broke into the global top 10 upon its release in June.
