Over the past three years, the Hi’s Eye staff has established a tradition of publishing a “Day in the Life” issue. In 2016, the staff spent a day in downtown Westfield. In 2017, they kicked it up a notch, taking the train into the heart of Manhattan. This year, we were determined to take it one step further: by attempting to take on Washington, D.C.

We spent the first part of our day together in the Newseum, but when we gathered at 1 p.m., we headed in more than 10 different directions with our reporters’ pads, each hoping to capture a unique aspect of the city to bring back to Room 111. While many of our ventures did not wind up as we thought they would, we followed the stories where they led us. As we worked, we uncovered our share of the great people, great food and great places that make our nation’s capital what it is.
