This week’s Q & A is with Lizzie Brucia, a junior goalkeeper on the WHS girls soccer team.
Hi’s Eye: What are your ways to eliminate nerves before a game?
LB: Before games, the team blasts music either on the bus or in the locker room. We always just fool around- dancing & singing, which really helps get me excited and get all the nerves out.
HE: Are you superstitious about soccer at all?
LB: I actually am incredibly superstitious- like really, really superstitious! I have the same breakfast before every game and listen to the same four songs every time.
HE: What’s your biggest motivation when you play?
LB: I want to do everything I can to give my team a chance to win. [For] the seniors on the team, this is their last time playing for WHS and for most of them it’s their last time playing soccer. So it’s our job [as underclassmen] to give them the best season.
HE: What’s the best athletic advice you were ever given?
LB: Athletically, the best advice I’ve been given is to “control the controllables.”
