The boys tennis team traveled to Delbarton School to compete in The Bryan Bennett Memorial Tournament against several other teams last Saturday and Sunday. The boys had great success, despite falling to Newark Academy in the semifinals.
During the second day of the tournament, WHS “fought hard for each position but came up short,” according to Siegel. Sophomore Noah Reich was able to win the only point for WHS at first singles as they fell to #1 seed Newark Academy 4–1.
However, Siegel noted that despite the absence of singles player Tyler Roth, the weekend was a success. He said: “It was a good test seeing how we match up with the best teams in the state even while our top player is recovering from an injury. We fit right in with the other teams.”
Kapner said, “I was extremely proud of the WHS boys tennis team this past weekend, and I am looking forward to the boys performing to the best of their abilities as individuals and as a team this season.”
