As WHS Physics Day approaches, I search for the most socially acceptable excuse to prevent me from going. I love physics, however rollercoasters are not my thing. In fact, they are my deepest fear in this world.
While I am on these frightening rides, the last thing I will be thinking about is the amount of gravitational force I am experiencing. Rather, I’ll stick to Bugaboo. FYI the Six Flags description of Bugaboo is “Gardeners in training will love this gently wavy tour on the back of brightly colored, spotted bug mobiles.”
In preparation for my terrifying journey, I search into YouTube for every Six Flags ride so I can map out every body position I will be in while I am screaming my head off. Thank God I remembered the tangential speed formula for the Green Lantern.
There are many thrill rides there, but here is a breakdown for the main ones.
Kingda Ka starts by going from 0-128 MPH shooting you into a 456 foot drop. You could not pay me to get on that one.
El Toro- the wooden deathtrap. No explanation necessary.
Nitro- this one is really testing how many G’s a human can handle. The issue with this ride is the fact that it feels like it takes 20 years to make it to the top. I think the suspense might actually kill me. The friction of this ride is greatest when approaching the circular motions on the spins, good luck staying conscious.
Superman will not have me feeling so super, and the ride is my kryptonite. I am not looking to test how much torque my body can handle while I am soaring through loopty loops. A thought that will not pass through my mind is clear, I am going to slip right out of my safety harness and literally turn into superman for a few seconds before I approach my doom since my momentum will not keep me afloat forever.
I wonder what I will have to do if I don’t go on the trip. I assume a nice, thick packet that mocks how much of a wussy I am for not going on roller coasters.
