Captain Q&A Episode 2 : The Last Dance and the WHS baseball team

Nate Lechner, R2 Op ed Editor

After nearly five months without sports, Blue Devil fans finally have something to cheer for: the “Last Dance Tournament.” The tournament is a single-elimination state-wide tournament that gives senior baseball players one last opportunity to represent WHS. The Blue Devil Baseball Team will have a target on their back in the tournament as they are the two-time defending sectional champions.

In Episode 2 of the Captain Q&A Podcast, Nate Lechner sits down with senior baseball captain John Czarnecki to discuss the tournament, being the underdog and the importance of depth during the last sports season he will ever have in high school. Czarnecki and the rest of the seniors on the team are grateful for the opportunity to play together one last time and want to create a legacy for the WHS baseball team.

The WHS baseball team came into Thursday night’s game against Berkeley Heights-Mountainside 2-0. Unfortunately, they lost that contest 5-1.
