Hi's Eye

“In high school, it can be hard sometimes to find your place, to find a group of people who you feel one trillion percent comfortable around, but the newspaper gave me that. It gave me a second home in the school, and a new family who accepted me for me. Staying till six after school laying out a paper or editing stories would have been a hard no from me freshman year, but now there is nowhere I would rather be. It is such an honor to drop off the paper in classes on Fridays and get to say I am part of Hi’s Eye. It amazes me that I get to carry on a legacy that has been going on since 1935. Hi’s Eye is a group of people who seem like they wouldn’t go together, but they have become my family. Most of my friends ask me how I am close with all of these people, but it is because they are my newspaper family—a random group of kids who have changed my life forever.” - Colm Slevin
